The Mississippi State soccer team is heading into the postseason for the first time in school history!

This weekend, in Starkville, Mississippi, postseason soccer will be played and you should be there to support it!  That’s right, history has been made in Starkville! For the first time ever, the Mississippi State soccer program will be headed to the NCAA Tournament! The Bulldogs have finally made it into postseason play on the soccer field!

After a 9-6-2 season that concluded with a relatively rough stretch, the Mississippi State soccer team is still eligible for the postseason. The Bulldogs started the season strong and earned plenty of respect throughout the year.

Now, this weekend, the Bulldogs actually get the opportunity to host their opening game for the 2018 NCAA women’s soccer tournament. Mississippi State made it into the tournament under Georgetown’s side of the bracket and will take on the Lady Bisons from Lipscomb. This is also the first time that Lipscomb will be in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Mississippi State has been notably tougher to play at home than on the road, so the fact that the Bulldogs get to play in Starkville this weekend is huge. This season, the Mississippi State soccer team is 6-1-2 when playing in Starkville and is 3-5-0 while playing on the road.

That strong home record is a huge reason why Mississippi State ended the season with the No. 19 ranking in the NCAA’s RPI.
