The Mississippi State football team takes on the Auburn Tigers in the hopes of ending their two game losing streak and getting their first SEC win.

When the Mississippi State football team takes the field against the Auburn Tigers, fans will be anxious. Mississippi State has not looked good at all their last two game, and Auburn is a tough opponent to try and get right against.

ESPN 2 will be the broadcasting network. At one time, this game between the Mississippi State football team and the Auburn Tigers was thought to be the game that determined which team would be the best to challenge Alabama. It’s not that any more.

The Mississippi State football team is still trying to figure out their new offense under Joe Moorhead. The Bulldogs will need to get more than the 6.5 points per game they are averaging in SEC play if they want this season to be a success.

Here is what I’ll be looking for as the game plays out this evening.

Can the offense show signs of life?

As stated earlier, the Mississippi State football team is only averaging 6.5 points per game since the schedule reached the SEC portion. They are averaging slightly more than 200 yards per game. The offense has to do something if they want to have a chance at winning?

Will the running game be more of a factor in this game?

The Mississippi State football team leads the SEC in yards per carry, but they are 10th in the SEC in rushing attempts per game. They need to establish the run, but doing so against one of the best defensive fronts in the country will be no easy task.

Which defense dominates more?

The defenses for both of these teams have been superb even if the offenses have left a lot to be desired. Which defensive unit will have the best game will likely determine the winner of this football game.

Will Joe Moorhead be on the hot seat if he loses this game?

I think he probably won’t, but this football season has deteriorated rapidly. Joe Moorhead and his coaching staff were handed a loaded football team, and all they have done is fill us with questions about the direction of this team. If the losing continues, expect there to be some changes at season’s end even if it isn’t the head coach.

Next. Should MSU consider changing quarterbacks?. dark

So that’s how you can watch the Mississippi State football team and some storylines. It’s a big game, and the Bulldogs need a win as badly as they ever have.
