The Mississippi State football team returns to Starkville to take on former head coach Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators.

When the Mississippi State football team takes the field against the Florida Gators, fans will be anxious. The Bulldogs were handed a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats last week. They look to regain momentum against former head coach Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators. Here’s how you can watch.

  • Game Time: 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time
  • Television: ESPN
  • Streaming: Watch ESPN app and FUBO TV
  • Radio: Check local listings or use the Mississippi State Radio Network on iTunes

ESPN will be the broadcasting network. This game could have been the CBS SEC Game of the Week. But when both teams lost to Kentucky earlier this season, it took some of the shine off this game nationally.

The Mississippi State football team will be trying to figure out what happened in their loss to Kentucky. After winning the first three games without much of a fight, the Bulldogs were manhandled by the Wildcats. They need to bounce back in a big way

Here is what I’ll be looking for as the game plays out this evening.

Was the offensive line play against Kentucky an outlier?

The offensive line for the Mississippi State football team was one of the best units in 2017 and early on in 2018. They regressed exponentially against Kentucky. Was it a sign of things to come or will that prove to be just a bad game?

Can the Bulldogs take advantage of Todd Grantham’s aggressiveness?

More from Mississippi State Football

3rd and Grantham. It’s a phrase used to describe Grantham in a not-so-positive way. When third down comes up, Grantham usually brings the house to try and get a big play. Sometimes it works, but sometimes he gives up big plays himself. The Bulldogs will need to take advantage if he gets too aggressive

What is the identity of this team?

Head Coach Joe Moorhead likes to hit big plays in the passing game. But this team is built like a ground oriented running team. The one thing the team doesn’t have right now is an identity. Will they get one during this game against Florida?

The return of Dan Mullen

Obviously, the biggest story in this game is Dan Mullen making what will likely be his only return to Starkville where he served as the head coach of the Mississippi State football program for 9 seasons. He had a lot of success, but fans weren’t pleased with the way he left. The players will also be keyed up wanting to beat their former coach. Can the Bulldogs play with emotion but control it enough to make sure they execute properly?

So that’s how you can watch the Mississippi State football team and some storylines. It’s a big game, and the hopes for the season probably will be determined by the outcome of this game.
