Mississippi State Has Plenty Of Options At Tight End To Diversify The Offense This Season
Last year, the Mississippi State football team was reliant upon its rushing attack to be able to move the ball downfield. There was very little passing game throughout the season and MSU often struggled through the air. Losing Fred Ross as the Bulldogs’ key receiver from 2016 really impacted MSU in 2017.
Dan Mullen didn’t find many ways to use his tight ends last season to make up for that. Yes, Jordan Thomas saw the field quite a bit at times, but it wasn’t enough to help move the ball forward throughout the year.
Joe Moorhead will have plenty of tight ends to be able to turn to this season to change up Mississippi State’s passing attack. Between Justin Johnson and Farrod Green, MSU has a couple of guys that have playing experience already.
Then, add in Christian Roberson, Dontea Jones, and Powers Warren who are all already on the roster with MSU. Moorhead will have plenty of options at tight end this season and that’s not even including the guys who are coming in as freshman this year.
