Mississippi State Softball’s Alex Wilcox Passes Away

Mississippi State softball’s Alex Wilcox inspired everyone during her fight with ovarian cancer

Alex Wilcox and her courageous fight with ovarian cancer will never be forgotten in Starkville. The Mississippi State softball freshman from Brantley, Alabama inspired internationally with her courage and passion as she took on a horrific disease at a young age.

Wilcox only spent one year with the Mississippi State softball team, but that was enough for her character and story to leave a mark on everyone associated with the Bulldogs. Her presence in Starkville seemed to truly transform her teammates, her team as a collective unit, and the entire Mississippi State family.

Now, the Mississippi State family is mourning the loss of Alex Wilcox. The Bulldogs are also offering their condolences and support to the Wilcox family.

Alex Wilcox was a truly vibrant person and her entire softball team rallied around with her battle against cancer. From there, the Starkville community and the rest of Mississippi State followed suit. It didn’t take long for schools like Central Arkansas to come in and offer help with some of her medical bills.

Her story then took off like a wildfire and captured everyone’s attention and captivated their hearts. From Ole Miss to the rest of the Southeastern Conference, everyone wanted to support Alex Wilcox.

Her story even made it all the way to China.

Wilcox will be missed at Mississippi State. She leaves a legacy that will resound with many.
