Cole Gordon Was Incredibly Important In This Postseason Run

Cole Gordon’s first notable appearance in Mississippi State’s run to Omaha wasn’t notable because it was great. In fact, it was notable for the exact opposite reason. Against Oklahoma, Gordon couldn’t get a single out and gave up three earned runs.

His ERA before that game was 4.87. After that game, it spiked up to 5.53.

MSU lost that game 20-10.

A few days later, Cole Gordon and Oklahoma met again. This time, however, Gordon came out on top and was incredible. Through 6.0 innings pitched in a relief outing, Gordon struck out 10 batters and got the Bulldogs the win against Oklahoma.

From there, he continued to be great.

In two appearances against Vanderbilt, Gordon combined for 7.0 innings pitched, 3 hits, 0 runs scored, 4 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Gordon absolutely dominated the Commodores and guided MSU through that Super Regional.

MSU wouldn’t have made it to Omaha without him and Mississippi State baseball fans should be truly grateful for him this season.
