The Mississippi State baseball team had one heck of a season in 2018

The 2018 Mississippi State baseball season is certainly going to be a memorable one for years to come. The Bulldogs made it back to Omaha to compete in the 2018 College World Series but did so in the most improbably way possible.

Mississippi State shouldn’t have made it to the College World Series. At least, nobody would have expected them to if the trend from the first half of the season had continued on as the Bulldogs played through the second half of the season.

However, the second half of the season was remarkable. As was the Mississippi State baseball team.

State continuously found ways to win and succeed when things seemed absolutely impossible. That turnaround seemed to start when Mississippi State beat Ole Miss and took two of three from what was considered by many to be their best team ever. The Rebels were also the third ranked team at the time.

From there, the Bulldogs absolutely tore through the rest of their season. Mississippi State then swept Arkansas and Florida, two of the best teams in the country and two teams that made it all the way to the College World Series.

As it happens, Arkansas is still playing and will compete for a national championship against Oregon State.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs defied the odds and the naysayers. Few believed that this team would become anything special. Regardless of what people said and believed, the Bulldogs accomplished much.

Let’s look back over this past college baseball season.
