Megan Stewart Created The Best Mississippi State Baseball College World Series Interview

There’s nothing that tops this Mississippi State Baseball interview in the College World Series

The first thing that Megan Stewart wants you to know is that she was in on the joke the entire time. The second thing is that Terry Powell made the perfect joke about having a banana hammock in what is now the perfect Mississippi State baseball interview.

After I posted this piece about a Mississippi State baseball fan trolling media members in Omaha at the College World Series, I reached out to both the interviewer and the interviewee. That’s Megan Stewart and Terry Powell respectively.

So far, I’ve only heard back from Stewart.

What follows is from a quick Q&A that I was able to get with her.

Ethan Lee: At what point did you realize exactly how ridiculous this interview might get? Did it start out that crazy early on or did it slowly escalate from a certain point that we didn’t see?

Megan Stewart: Haha that was part of Terry’s opening monologue on camera.. You can just tell he’s a huge Mississippi State fan and also talked about how relaxed and loose the team was the night before the game at the hotel.. I think he adopted their attitude for the interview.

Ethan Lee: So, given some of his jokes, did we see pretty much all of the interview or were there jokes that we missed out on from this gem? Was there anything that was edited out from it?

Megan Stewart: I only get 1:20 to tell the story so I really only had room for two jokes – his wife’s boyfriend and the banana hammock.. There were definitely more one liners from Terry. He’s really funny! Would not be surprised if he launched a career as a stand up comedian

Ethan Lee: That’s awesome. Have you ever had a more memorable interview at the College World Series than this one?

Megan Stewart: No this one definitely takes the cake! I’m also getting emails, tweets and FB messages telling me I’m an idiot or I got “trolled” by Terry.. It honestly just adds to the hilarity because he said it with such a straight face!

Megan Stewart created the perfect Mississippi State baseball interview. She was in on it the whole time. And, on top of all of that, she was great to chat with. MSU fans should certainly be thankful for this and anything else that comes from it.
