Mississippi State Baseball To Face Washington In 2018 College World Series

The Mississippi State baseball team will get the 2018 College World Series started with a game against the Washington Huskies

The 2018 College World Series starts Saturday at 2:00 pm central time up in Omaha, Nebraska. But, the Mississippi State baseball team won’t get going until later that evening. At 7:00 pm, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Washington Huskies will face off in the second overall game of the College World Series.

Neither team was really expected to get to this point in the 2018 college baseball season. Mississippi State had a lengthy list of reasons as to why they wouldn’t, yet the Bulldogs overcame all of them to get here.

For the Washington Huskies, this is their first trip to the College World Series. 2018 is the first year ever that the Huskies have gotten this far. Everything at this point is completely new and foreign to them.

Washington has had an incredible year so far. This is a team that has gone 35-24 this season and made it into the NCAA Baseball Tournament as a three seed in the Conway Regional out in South Carolina. While there, the Huskies made quick work of their opponents, beating and eliminating the hosting Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the UConn Huskies.

That brought Washington to face off with Cal State Fullerton. Washington travelled all the way across the country back to the West Coast, went down to Fullerton, California, and beat the Titans in a thrilling three game series.

Now, the Mississippi State baseball team and the Washington Huskies are set to meet. The two teams have had similar postseason journeys to get to this point. Once this game is over, the winner here will go on to play the winner between Oregon State and North Carolina.
