Let’s go back through the moment that brought Mississippi State baseball back to Omaha

The Mississippi State baseball team is headed back to the College World Series. For the 10th time in Mississippi State University’s history, its Diamond Dawgs are competing for it all up in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Bulldogs had a long, arduous journey to get to this point.

That trek for this team included not being able to practice much during the fall, getting swept by Southern Miss to start the season, losing its head coach due to a scandal, and then playing the bulk of the early season away from home due to construction of the stadium.

And that was just through the first quarter of the season.

Needless to say, this season has brought many highs and many lows to the Mississippi State baseball team. But, 2018 is still a good year for the Bulldogs. They’re back in Omaha thanks to Gary Henderson and this coaching staff.

They’re back in Omaha because of this play right here:

Mississippi State cleared the last hurdle it needed to get to the 2018 College World Series. That was the Vanderbilt Commodores, a team that swept the Bulldogs to start MSU’s rough 2-7 stretch at the beginning of SEC play.

Now, the Mississippi State baseball team eliminated the Commodores on their own field. The Bulldogs silenced all doubters and the whistlers in the same moment.
