Mississippi State baseball will face Oklahoma one last time this season as the Bulldogs and Sooners battle for the Tallahassee Regional
The Mississippi State baseball team has made an incredible run through the Tallahassee Regional. The Bulldogs looked like they’d be dead in the water on Friday. Then, thanks to the three games in between then and now, MSU now has a legitimate shot at claiming the 2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament’s Tallahassee Regional.
All the Bulldogs need to do is come out on top of Oklahoma one last time. In a winner takes all game, the Mississippi State baseball team is battling the Oklahoma Sooners for the Tallahassee Regional and a chance to move on to a Super Regional.
No big deal. No pressure… Right?
Mississippi State has proven time and time again that it can win under any sort of circumstances. With the Bulldogs’ backs against the wall after losing to Oklahoma to get the Regional started, MSU beat Florida State in walk off fashion. A three-run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning ended FSU’s season.
After that, MSU was matched up with Samford. In a high scoring battle of Bulldogs, Mississippi State came out on top. The Bulldogs needed all nine runs that they scored, but they won 9-8. That was during the middle of the day on Sunday.
And then finally, late into Sunday’s evening, Mississippi State beat down the Oklahoma Sooners to avenge that opening game. MSU took down Oklahoma to force another game with the Sooners for all the marbles.

And that game is today. Mississippi State must win here or they’re going home. That stipulation has been on the Bulldogs all weekend. Now, this is their final shot at making it to a Super Regional. Given that their interim head coach hasn’t been to one before, this is the perfect time to get him there.
