What Will the Egg Bowl Be Like In 2018?

Over the past couple of seasons, the annual Battle for the Golden Egg has been rather unpredictable. The game has gone back and forth and the previous two meetings have been won by the road team that was not expected to win.

Mississippi State demolished Ole Miss 55-20 in 2016 thanks to Nick Fitzgerald and Aeris Williams. Then, when Fitzgerald was taken out of the game in 2017 after an injury made as he was tackled by the Rebels, Ole Miss squeaked out a 31-28 victory in Starkville.

But what about 2018?

Mississippi State is primed for a huge season and there’s some uncertainty in Oxford. Ole Miss is turning its offense over to Jordan Ta’amu to be their full-time starter this year and some fans are ecstatic about what he brings, but it’s yet to be seen as to how well he’ll perform as a full-time starter.

It’s hard to predict how this game will go when we’re roughly 6 months away from it, but Bulldog fans have to be hopeful given what their team will look like this season and with who is coaching them this year.

It often appeared that Dan Mullen slept his way through those games. Right now it looks like MSU’s new head coach Joe Moorhead plans on not following in those sleep walking footsteps.
