Mississippi State Baseball Jake Mangum and Tanner Allen Named to All-SEC Teams

Mississippi State baseball has two members on All-SEC Teams this season

The Mississippi State baseball team got some solid recognition from the Southeastern Conference this afternoon. The Bulldogs got two players onto the 2018 All-SEC Teams this season.

Jake Mangum, the Bulldogs’ junior centerfielder earned First Team All-SEC recognition as well as the SEC All Defensive team. Freshman infielder Tanner Allen earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team.

Mangum leads the Bulldogs with his .350 batting average and currently also leads the entire SEC with 82 hits this season. On top of that, Jake Mangum has also hit 20 doubles, leading the Bulldogs as well. In addition to all of that, Mangum has 14 stolen bases, 22 walks, a .474 slugging percentage, and a .986 fielding percentage.

As for Tanner Allen, he is the first Mississippi State baseball player to earn a spot on the freshman All-SEC team since Jake Mangum did it in his first season in Starkville back in 2016. As a freshman, Allen has a .301 batting average and a .452 slugging percentage. He’s hit three home runs and five triples this year and has proven to be a potent offensive option at the plate.

Now, the Mississippi State baseball team is gearing up for action out in Hoover, Alabama. The Bulldogs will be battling the LSU Tigers in an attempt to continue the winning ways that the Bulldogs have experienced lately.

Mississippi State is aiming for improved seeding in the NCAA Tournament. After the Bulldogs beat down the 1st ranked Florida Gators, Mississippi State is certainly a lock for the postseason. Now, MSU just wants to get the best possible place in the postseason.
