Mississippi State Football: Expect Nick Fitzgerald To Set MSU Records In 2018

Nick Fitzgerald Needs 10 Rushing Touchdowns This Year To Set A Career Record
Nick Fitzgerald has done a lot of running for Mississippi State football in his career. As such, he’s a total of 10 rushing touchdowns away from a new MSU record.
Right now, Anthony Dixon holds the record with 42 rushing touchdowns. Dak Prescott is at number two on the list with 41 touchdowns. Number three? That’s Fitzgerald with a total of 33 touchdowns.
A decent season running the ball will give him this record.
In the past two seasons, Fitzgerald has 30 touchdowns. He scored 16 back in 2016 and then 14 in 2017 despite his season ending injury. 10 rushing touchdowns isn’t going to be that difficult for Fitzgerald to obtain in one season. That is assuming that Joe Moorhead doesn’t shift the focus of MSU’s rushing attack so far away from Fitz that he doesn’t get many opportunities for a rushing score.
Nick will have chances to score and put up points. He’ll give Moorhead a great weapon to use against tough SEC defenses. But, so will Aeris Williams and Kylin Hill. And, as previously discussed, Williams and Hill might take a few potential rushing touchdowns away.
