Plenty of good stuff to read on the site this week about this game, check out our football page to see all that content.

This game was originally scheduled to be broadcast on SEC Network. But due to Hurricane Matthew forcing the postponement of the LSU at Florida game (which was on ESPN), Auburn at MSU will be aired on ESPN instead.

The LSU/Florida game was “postponed” but really it was canceled because when are they possibly going to make it up. The teams do not have a common bye week so it was left up in the air as ‘hopefully another week will open itself up’. Yeah, like that’s going to happen.

Florida could have played the game at LSU but they chose not to. I know that seems like an unfair advantage, but it’s better than no game at all. Due to their game vs. Georgia being at a neutral site, the Gators are only playing three SEC road games this year. Cry me a river if you have to play four like everyone else. LSU even offered to play in front of no fans but UF said no.

They could have played the game on Sunday in Gainesville or on Monday in Gainesville. But they chose not to. This was done to give UF a hope of winning the East.

The game won’t be made up, so if Florida wins out – which they could certainly do as the schedule lightens up after this week – they’ll be 6-1. Tennessee holds the tie-breaker with them, so it wouldn’t matter if the Vols only had one loss. The Gators are hoping they’ll lose this week at Texas A&M and next week vs. Alabama so they can finish 1/2 game ahead.

As much as the postponement helps Florida it hurts LSU. If the Tigers win out they’ll be 6-1 with a victory over Alabama. But if that’s the only game Bama were to lose they’d be 7-1 and will win the West despite losing to the other one-loss team in the division.

Leonard Fournette is out for LSU – the Gators could’ve won the game if they’d just have manned up and played in Baton Rouge. Now this could really affect the final standings.
