Mississippi State vs. Auburn Point Spread Announced
Mississippi State will host Auburn in a critical Week 6 match-up at Davis Wade Stadium.
Mississippi State opened as a one point favorite vs. Auburn.
(Monday morning update: in just 12 hours it has shifted to Auburn -2.5).
This SEC West rivalry has not lacked for drama or excitement during the Dan Mullen era. Things started out simple enough in 2009 when the Tigers trounced the Bulldogs 49-24, but it all changed just a few months later.
Cam Newton looked like he was headed to Mississippi State before doing a 180 over Christmas break and committing to Auburn. He beat MSU 17-14 in 2010 and there was all kinds of drama in the ensuing months over whether cheating was involved.
In 2011, a back-and-forth game came down to the final second as Chris Relf was stopped inches short of the goal line to tie the game.

In 2012, Mississippi State had a lot of frustration building and put it on the Tigers, 28-10.
Then once again on the Plains – this time in 2013, Auburn defeated MSU in last-second fashion with a come-from-behind 24-20 win.
2014’s game was one to remember as both teams entered the game ranked in the top 5, and MSU’s 38-20 win vaulted them to No. 1 in the nation.
In last season’s match-up, the Bulldogs won in Auburn by a final score of 17-9. That gave Dan Mullen two out of three from Gus Malzahn and three of the last four overall.
The game this year promises to be more of the same. In an interesting note – this is Auburn’s first road game of the year. It’s a strange twist being their sixth game so far this season. They’ve played Clemson, Arkansas State, Texas A&M, LSU and Louisiana-Monroe all at Jordan Hare Stadium. Could that work to the Bulldogs advantage? We’ll just have to see.
