Mississippi State Football: Most Impactful Newcomers

I don’t have a picture of Traver Jung but J.T. Gray (above) is the most like him on the team. Jung is a coaches dream at linebacker. He’s 6’3 230 pounds and has been clocked at 4.4 seconds in the forty yard dash.

That is a rare combination of size and speed that could allow a player to make plays all over the field. Jung played two years at Holmes(MS) Community College and  spent the 2015 season redshirting. He was a four star recruit coming out of JUCO so you know the talent is there. Traver should compete for a starting spot at “star” linebacker where he could use his speed and athleticism  to cover tight ends and some receivers. Jung’s experience could push him over the top and help create a star for Peter Sirmon’s new defense. And while we’re talking about the new defense…
