Dan Mullen has been the head coach of the Mississippi State football team for seven seasons and people still don’t get it right.

Dan Mullen is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Mississippi State football. He has taken the Bulldogs from perennial cellar dweller to a middle of the pack SEC team, and he even had them ranked as the number one team in the country for five straight weeks in 2014.

And some people still can’t get his name right.

It’s almost comical, so much so, our other co-editor wrote an April Fool’s Day post about it a few years ago. But we are about to enter year eight of the Dan Mullen era, and I still cringe every time I see a Mississippi State fan use something other than Dan Mullen.

It could be Mullins or Mullens. I have seen both used, and they are both horrible. Sure, there are some Ole Miss fans who do this because they for some reason think it is an insult. Those don’t bother me. It’s the State fans who do it that drive me batty when I see it. There are even Media members who do it. And there are plenty.

Even Twitter Moments can’t get Mullen’s name right.

This is starting to rival when ESPN calls Mississippi State the Ole Miss Bulldogs and vice versa. But at least they have the excuse of not having a vested interest in the team. Some of the people doing it are fans of the Bulldogs.

The State fans who do it are in a very small minority. But there shouldn’t be a single fan still doing this after seven seasons of Mullen calling the shots.

If you are still calling Dan Mullen something that ends with an “S” at the end of his name, I implore you to stop. Mullen is our coach, and it is long past time all State fans got his name right.
