Mississippi State Baseball Forecast: Post-LA Blues

Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather may not hold up for the Bulldogs’ series against #10 Oregon. We may not be able to have a game all three games, but the series will be able to go on.

After a 1-1-1 showing in Los Angeles, CA and a thrilling victory over South Alabama on Tuesday, the Mississippi State baseball team faces a very stout and tough Oregon Ducks squad at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs are 9-3-1 coming into this weekend’s series, and looks for a massive RPI boost against the #10 ranked Oregon Ducks. While the Bulldogs have only two losses on their home field, this may be the biggest test of the non-conference schedule for the Bulldog pitching and hitting. Add in the elements that are possible this weekend, and you have the makings for a very tough and erratic pitching schedule that will be added and subtracted from by Mother Nature.

The weekend weather setup is coming from a slow-moving system that is currently making its way across the Ark-La-Tex right now. The system is going to creep its way over to our area, and dump a lot of rain in the process. The development of thunderstorms is not out of the question also, which may put a damper on games being played on some days. As many know, Sunday’s game was originally scheduled for an 11:00 AM first pitch, but was rescheduled to 10:30 AM earlier this week much to the dismay of Josh. But the reasoning behind it is sound both for the NCAA and for me looking at how the weather will play out. With the way this system is set up, once it starts raining, it won’t stop for a good while. But we will try to fit all three games in this week, but I have a feeling we may need a Doubleheader on Saturday to fit it all in. Here goes nothing!
