An already deep Defensive Line just got deeper

The defensive line for the Mississippi State football team has been one of its strengths since the 2013 season. The group loses Chris Jones and Ryan Brown, but it has plenty of firepower returning.

David Turner and Dan Mullen will have Nelson Adams. Fletcher Adams, Nick James, A.J. Jefferson, Jonathan Calvin and Will Coleman to choose from to start in 2016. That’s assuming they can all hold off the three freshmen heading to campus in the Fall.

Kobe Jones and Marquiss Spencer are two four star prospects that will push all of the current players for playing time. The luxury the Mississippi State football coaching staff has is they could easily redshirt the pair to save their eligibility for future seasons as well.

When the top rated prospect in the state signed, Jeffrey Simmons gave the Bulldogs a Chris Jones type player, but a much more ready to compete version of him. Chris Jones came to Starkville with potetnial running out of his ears. He’s leaving still needing to tap into that potential.

Simmons has plenty of potential as well, but he won’t need the same amount of development Jones needed. The coaching staff could redshirt Simmons as well, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t put him out on the field on day one.
