Beating your rival is always a trill. Beating them in front of your home crowd is too. Add in the fact that MSU did those things and it clinched a conference championship? That’s a pretty great day!
Over the next few slides you’ll see a lot of games from the 1959-63 Babe McCarthy era. That’s because it was Mississippi State’s greatest concentration of winning in any sport, ever. This was the second straight SEC title and third in four years.
The Bulldogs were ranked in the top 10 all year long and ended #4 in the final AP poll. That was good enough for the second best finish in school history behind another 24-1 team, 1959.
