Gus Malzahn is Godzilla

Remember when Godzilla used to terrorize Tokyo? He would come screeching in from the ocean to destroy the city and then would return to ocean after wreaking his havoc.

Now, Godzilla is a washed up monster that simply can’t get the respect it once did. Every time someone tries to make a Godzilla movie these days, they don’t do well, and we all wonder what happened to such a fearsome beast.

Well Gus Malzahn terrorized the SEC first as an offensive coordinator and then as a head coach. When he was teamed up with Cam Newton in 2010, the two made for an unstoppable wrecking ball combination that led to a national championship. He almost repeated the feat when he led the Auburn Tigers to an appearance in the National Championship.

But the decline at Auburn has been swift. The Tigers went 8-5 last season, and are off to a 4-3 start this season. The number of winnable games for Malzahn and his bunch are dwindling. After an appearance in the national championship game in 2013, the Tigers are going to be doing good to just get bowl eligible.
