Create turnovers on defense

The number of yards the Bulldogs give up on defense is the concern for most, but that is less of a concern for me personally. I’m more concerned with the fact this defense simply isn’t causing turnovers.

I have talked often about the scheme Manny Diaz employs to stop the other team dead in their tracks. He protects against the big play, and shuts the other team down the closer they get to the red zone.

But the part of the defense that is missing so far from what Manny Diaz usually brings to a team is turnover margin. Through the first 5 games, the Bulldogs have three interceptions, and that is it. The defense is doing a solid job on third down and keeping the opposition out of the end zone, but they aren’t making enough game changing plays. This leaves the offense having to play an almost flawless game to  keep the team close or to win.

We need turnovers from our defense.
