Most Under Appreciated Players in MSU History
Kevin Prentiss
Kevin Prentiss was a JUCO transfer that didn’t accumulate a ton of catches, but he made them count when he did. He was a short receiver that made big plays whenever he caught the ball. In 1998, he only had 38 receptions his senior year, but averaged 17.9 yards per reception that season which was good for 4th in the SEC.
The play that he is remembered for came in the SEC Championship game in 1998. In the 4th quarter, Prentiss returned a punt that gave Mississippi State a 14-10 lead over Tennessee. The lead wouldn’t hold, and the Vols went on to win the National Championship in 1998.
