5. Who Will Florida Hire?
As I mentioned early and everyone knows by now, Florida fired Will Muschamp. The list of names to replace him is big and also lofty.
Vegas already has odds on it:
- Mike Gundy: 4/1
- Jim McElwain: 9/2
- Bob Stoops: 11/2
- Dan Mullen: 11/2
- Make Shanahan: 7/1
- Rich Rodriguez: 7/1
- Steve Spurrier: 8/1
- Hugh Freeze: 9/1
- Gary Patterson: 12/1
- Gus Malzahn: 12/1
Brent McMurphy claims Dan Mullen and Rich Rodriguez won’t be candidates for the job. I can’t imagine Steve Spurrier going back at nearly 70 years old. We joked about Freeze going to Florida last month but I doubt that too. Really, that entire list seems too lofty except Jim McElwain. Florida fans have their head in the clouds about who they can get. It’s a great program, but in this day in age it’s harder and harder to pick coaches off other power five schools.
