Number 3: The Auburn Tigers

I really debated putting the Tigers at number 2. I really did. I had Dak’s performance against their defense, and the reality that many could make the argument that the Bulldogs did more to give the 2013 game away than the Tigers did to win it. Auburn will head to Starkville for the sixth game of the season, and it has the potential to be a huge match-up on the national stage. The Tigers will likely be undefeated when they travel to Mississippi State, and their is an outside chance that the Bulldogs could be as well, and a really good chance they enter the game with just one loss. This should be a really good game regardless of how many losses either team has when the game starts.

Upset chance: 40% The Tigers are going to be good, and they might repeat as SEC West champs. The Tigers have received lots of love from the National Media, and deservedly so. The one thing I believe about the Tigers though is that they are ripe for a significant step back. It took a two minute, length-of-the-field drive to beat Mississippi State last year, a miraculous play against Georgia that could never be replicated to win that game, and the most unlikely of outcomes on a botched field goal attempt by Alabama to win that game. If there are a few plays that go a little bit differently, Auburn’s season last year plays out completely differently. Maybe they take a step back this year. The Tigers should be favored if they enter the game undefeated, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Bulldogs pulled this upset off.
