12. Mississippi State
Unfortunately the Dawgs land here. It was not a bad football season, but 7-6 with a Liberty Bowl win just doesn’t get you too far within the SEC.
The basketball program is still rebuilding and was just plain awful at times, suffering a losing streak that I don’t even want to mention again. The signs of life in the SEC Tourney were encouraging, however…but a little too late.
Baseball was preseason consensus ranked in the top 8 and expected to return to Omaha. But the team struggled all year and never came close to expectations despite having their best SEC record in over 15 years. In the end, the Bulldogs went to a Regional and lost to ULL just one game away from advancing.
