1. Vanderbilt

For the second straight year Vandy won nine football games. You have to keep saying that a few times until you actually believe it. Prior to 2012, they hadn’t won nine games in a season since 1915. These are the glory years of Vanderbilt football. Unfortunately for them James Franklin left for Penn State after the BBVA Compass Bowl.

Basketball had a down year with no postseason tournament.

The SEC made the national championship game in each sport but only Vandy walks away with a national title. Who would have thought they could win it all after losing so much from their 26-3 and #1 overall seed team last year, but they did. This propels them to the top spot on the countdown.
