The NFL is back, and so is Dak Prescott. After a hamstring injury ended his 2024 season early, Dak is back healthy for his 10th NFL season, suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys against rival and defending champion Philadelphia.
Dak didn't exactly get the warmest welcome back tonight. After the game's opening kickoff, Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter got in Prescott's face and, despicably, spit on him.

Carter was, rightfully, ejected. How boneheaded do you have to be to pull a stunt like that and get yourself kicked out of the game before even taking a snap? It's an insane and disgusting move.
Dak Prescott demonstrated tremendous restraint against Jalen Carter
I think it's fair to say that Dak Prescott is a much bigger man than the overwhelming majority of us after how he handled this situation. Because let's just be honest, most of us would have been anything but calm had that happened to us, and any of us would be justified in not demonstrating restraint there.
The fact he managed to remain calm while being spat on by a rival player speaks to the type of person he is. He's got too much class and is too good of a leader to allow someone else's foolishness to drag him out of his element and cause him to not be at his best.
And he is at his best tonight. At the half he's 12-17 passing for 127 yards. He's led the Cowboys to points on all four of their possessions. The only thing holding him back right now is his own defense, which looks completely pathetic against the Eagle offense.
It looks like Dak is going to have to carry his team tonight, but if there were ever a night he'd be able to, it may be this one. Today would've been his mother's 64th birthday. Peggy Prescott passed away after a battle with cancer while Dak was at Mississippi State in 2013.
In honor of his mother, Dak has "Happy Birthday MOM!" written on his wrist tape tonight.

We should all be on Dak Prescott's side tonight. On a day that you know has got to be tough on him, after being disgustingly spat on, you have to hope he and Dallas can get it done.
