Mississippi State women's basketball will be back in action November 7, tipping-off their third season under head coach Sam Purcell. And while the season is still a few weeks away, Purcell has already got momentum rolling for his program off the court.

Mississippi State women's basketball with three Top-100 commitments

Sam Purcell is on a dominant recruiting hot streak right now. His Bulldog program has now picked-up three Top-100 commitments since last week, giving Mississippi State an elite 2025 signing class.

Last week, 6-3 forward Nataliyah Gray chose the Bulldogs over the likes of Alabama, Houston, and Georgia. A 91-overall 4-star prospect out of Houston, TX, Gray is rated as the 95th best women's basketball recruit in the country.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs added another elite commitment when Indianapolis-native Jaylah Lampley chose Mississippi State over Louisville and Rutgers. Lampley, a 6-1 guard, is rated as a 94-overall 4-star prospect and is the nation's 38th-best recruit.

Finally on Wednesday, Mississippi State picked up it's highest-rated commitment of the 2025 class when 95-overalll 4-star Madison Francis, the 33rd-ranked player in the country, out of Lancaster, NY announced for the Bulldogs. The 6-1 forward chose MSU over Michigan State, Ohio State, North Carolina, Louisville, and several other high level programs.

Sam Purcell is delivering on his reputation as an elite recruiter

When he was an assistant at Louisville, Sam Purcell was lauded as one of the best recruiters in all of women's college basketball. That was among the biggest reasons he was hired as head coach of Mississippi State. If you want to win at an elite level, you have to be able to bring elite players into your program.

Purcell is doing exactly that. He's got the Bulldogs winning national recruiting battles for coveted prospects, landing the exact pieces needed to return MSU to being one of the SEC's premier women's basketball programs.

This is a big season for Mississippi State. Sam Purcell really needs his Bulldogs to take a step forward after a disappointing close the last year's regular season sent them to the NIT. It's TBD what things look like on gamedays in Starkville. But at a minimum, State is going to have good enough players while Purcell is running things.
