Mississippi State football's roster overhaul is fully underway. After a 2-10 season in Jeff Lebby's first year, the Bulldogs need to completely flip things around if they're going to make major improvements in 2025. That means making big moves in the transfer portal.

Of course the other side of that is players choosing to move on from the Bulldogs to find opportunities elsewhere. Early on, all of State's outgoing transfers were on the offensive side of the ball, but that is no longer the case.

Mississippi State Bulldogs redshirt freshman linebacker Tabias Hinton enters transfer portal

Bulldog linebacker Tabias Hinton has entered his name in the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman is the first player from the Mississippi State defense to enter the portal so far this offseason.

A native of Hattiesburg, MS, Hinton signed with Mississippi State in the class of 2023. 247 Sports rated Hinton as an 87-overall 3-star prospect. He was the 14th best player in the state of Mississippi and the nation's 64th best linebacker in the 2023 class.

Mississippi State was his only SEC offer out of high school, having originally chosen the Bulldogs over the likes of Colorado, Memphis, Tulane, Southern Miss, and Middle Tennessee State. Hinton was one of just two linebackers Mississippi State signed in the 2023 class, the other being Zakari Tillman, who emerged as one of the few bright spots on the Bulldog defense this season.

Hinton took a redshirt during his first season in Starkville in 2023. He did not see any action during his two years at Mississippi State. With five of the Bulldogs' top six linebackers able to return for 2025, Hinton will look for a better opportunity at playing time elsewhere.
