Predictions for Mississippi State vs UMass and college football's biggest Week 10 games
It's not the biggest week of the college football season. Nationally, we've got a few high-profile games, but it's mostly a light slate. There's not much going on in Starkville either, as Mississippi State football looks to finally end their losing skid against UMass. But we're still going to break down all those games.
The Maroon and White Nation team has been picking the winners of the biggest games all year and making our predictions for Bulldog football. Here are our records through nine weeks...
Chase Brumfield: 53-37
Reed Green: 53-37
Andrew Miller: 59-31
On to Week 10!
College football predictions for Week 10
There are some major playoff implications nationally this week. Here's who we see winning those matchups...
4 Ohio State at 3 Penn State
Chase: Ryan Day has his team back on track since their loss against Oregon. Their offense isn’t something to take lightly with superstars all over the board. I expect Ohio State to take care of business in Happy Valley. Ohio State wins
Reed: It seems at this point that Ryan Day has trouble winning the “big game,” and I think that continues this week on the road. Allar makes enough plays with his arm, and the home crowd helps them to victory. Penn State wins
Andrew: I hate that I'm putting faith in James Franklin against a high-caliber team, but I think the Nittany Lions have an edge in the trenches that will be enough with the Happy Valley crowd behind them. Penn State wins
Virginia Tech at Syracuse
Chase: Kyle McCord’s recent play has been an issue. Virginia Tech is a feisty team that likes to get after the ball. This game will surprise a lot of people. Virginia Tech wins
Reed: I think Kyle McCord bounces back in a big way as the Orange win a close one. Syracuse wins
Andrew: Tech has been playing better lately, and even looking beyond 'Cuse's disastrous showing in Pittsburgh, I think the Hokies have been the more consistent team. Virginia Tech wins
Wisconsin at Iowa
Chase: The Badgers will look towards Tawee Walker to carry the load. Iowa’s chances of staying in the game this weekend will be low. Wisconsin wins
Reed: I think defense is the name of the game, and I think the Hawkeyes shut down the Badgers' offense. I predict Iowa to win this one running away. Iowa wins
Andrew: I don't trust Wisconsin much at all, and the QB change should be good for Iowa. Iowa wins
18 Pittsburgh at 20 SMU
Chase: SMU is on roll, but Pittsburgh will find a way to slow down the Mustangs momentum. A great matchup to watch this weekend. Pittsburgh wins
Reed: I think Pitt playing a road game this late in the season halfway across the country has an effect on them, and SMU wins a close one thanks to their quarterback. SMU wins
Andrew: SMU is the better team, but I just get a feeling that this is when we see them make themselves a true ACC member. What determines that? Losing to Pitt when you're in the midst of a potentially special season. Pittsburgh wins
