Week 6 of the 2024 SEC football season was, quite simply, berserk. Three Top-10 teams in the league went down, and two of those losses were entirely unexpected. It was madness, and we've got big changes to the SEC power rankings as a result.

SEC Power Rankings after Week 6

Literally the top 13 spots in the power rankings have a different occupant this week, and I can't say I feel fully confident about the placement of most of the teams. Let's look at the changes...

1. Texas Longhorns (up from 2)

Didn't even play and once again looks like the best team in the SEC. Must be nice.

2. Georgia Bulldogs (up from 4)

Georgia is still really good, which we figured out in the second-half in their loss to Bama, but now it seems they and Texas are alone in the top tier.

3. Texas A&M Aggies (up from 7)

Ok, this is probably a crazy jump, but A&M is 5-1, with the lone loss being respectable (I know many in SEC Country would disagree with that but regardless). They just destroyed Missouri, and it's hard to say they're any more flawed than the teams they jumped.

4. LSU Tigers (up from 6)

LSU was off this week, and unfortunately their lone loss looks worse with USC falling to Minnesota. But the Tigers have simply won their other games and not gotten embarrassed. Saturday night in Death Valley vs Ole Miss will be insane.

5. Tennessee Volunteers (down from 3)

Does the Tennessee offense have problems? It might, and truthfully, Arkansas had every chance to have full control of that game throughout. The Vols are probably fine, but that's a tough loss.

6. Alabama Crimson Tide (down from 1)

Remember everything said about the dynasty still being alive and well. Yeah, scratch all that. THE DYNASTY IS DEAD. NICK SABAN CARRIED THIS PROGRAM. I mostly kid, but man, it's clearly a new era. The UGA win still counts, but losing to Vanderbilt immediately after makes it impossible to still fully believe in the Tide.

7. Ole Miss Rebels (up from 9)

Ole Miss played poorly and still beat a feisty Gamecock squad 27-3. It wasn't clean, but it was a good bounce back after last week and a sign this team can still make waves this year.

8. Missouri Tigers (down from 5)

Congratulations, Missouri, you are officially the biggest frauds in the SEC. Losing by 31 as the #9 team in the country and not looking impressive against power conference competition earns you the honor.

9. Arkansas Razorbacks (up from 12)

I was positive Arkansas was about to have yet another unfathomable loss, but give credit to the Hogs, they found a way against a very good Tennessee team. This is a huge win for Sam Pittman who now has his team 4-2.

10. Vanderbilt Commodores (up from 13)

HOW 'BOUT THEM 'DORES? What a remarkable win. Diego Pavia was the savior Vanderbilt football needed. This team was clearly improved from the start of the year, but taking down #1 Alabama is simply unbelievable. And taking the goalposts down Broadway? Wonderful.

11. Oklahoma Sooners (down from 10)

The Sooners were off this week. I don't think anyone buys this OU team, but they've only lost once and are ranked, so that counts for something, I guess.

12. Kentucky Wildcats (down from 11)

Kentucky was also on break, and now we get to run with the narrative that VANDERBILT is walking into a trap game in Lexington this week.

13. South Carolina Gamecocks (down from 8)

I think any conversations we had about this team being dangerous are just about over after their performance against Ole Miss. But hey, Gamecocks, at least now you can get some relief by facing a weak Alabama defense because that's a sentence that makes sense in 2024.

14. Florida Gators

Billy Napier not losing to an in-state directional school that many assumed he would before the year is a good thing. But UCF is also just not very good.

15. Auburn Tigers

I mean there were technically times when Auburn was in theoretical striking distance against Georgia, but only barely.

16. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Maybe you can do what Vandy did off their bye, State. You probably won't, but maybe.
