Mississippi State baseball continues to reload the roster for the 2025 season. Head coach Chris Lemonis is in the process of putting together almost an entirely new lineup after the majority of starters from this year's 40-win, regional-appearance team are moving on.

Lemonis has already addressed the left side of the infield with the additions of third-baseman Gehrig Frei from North Alabama and shortstop Sawyer Reeves from The Citadel. He then brought in two-way star Noah Sullivan from USC Upstate, the 16-ranked player in the portal who is effective both on the mound and at the plate.

Now, he's picked up a first-baseman that can add some more power to the lineup.

Campbell first-baseman Reed Stallman commits to Mississippi State baseball

First-baseman Reed Stallman, a transfer out of Campbell, announced his commitment to Mississippi State baseball Sunday morning.

In 2024, Stallman was second for the Camels with 53 RBI and was third on the team with 15 home runs. He led Campbell with 47 walks, walking more than he struck out. Stallman posted a 1.001 OPS and went 8-8 on stolen base attempts.

Stallman will need to improve upon his batting average at Mississippi State. He hit just .239 last season. However his numbers from earlier in his collegiate career suggest he can provide more. Stallman began his career at Des Moines Area Community College, where he batted .370 and was a 1st Team All-Region player.

Still plenty of work to do for Mississippi State baseball in the transfer portal

The Diamond Dawgs have gotten off to a solid start so far through the transfer portal, adding some quality pieces that will be able to make immediate impacts in Starkville. Still, there's lots of work to be done for Chris Lemonis and his staff to fully reload the roster for 2025. Ideally, they need to land a few more "big fish" through the portal to be confident in fielding a contending team, which is always the expectation at Mississippi State.
