Mississippi State baseball continues to reload its roster this offseason. Chris Lemonis is going portal-heavy with so much of his 2024 roster out the door. He's already addressed the left side of the infield with the additions of third-baseman Gehrig Frei and shortstop Sawyer Reeves.
Now he's added a transfer who can help the Bulldogs in multiple ways next season.
USC Upstate two-way player Noah Sullivan commits to Mississippi State baseball
The Diamond Dawgs added a third player from the mid-major ranks. University of South Carolina Upstate right-hand pitcher and designated hitter Noah Sullivan committed to Mississippi State on Monday.
Sullivan was a star for the Upstate Spartans in 2024. At the plate, Sullivan batted .324 with 56 RBI and 17 home runs. He posted an OPS of 1.066, and as has been a theme with Mississippi State's portal additions thus far, he had a low strikeout rate at just 15%.
Sullivan was effective on the mound as well. This past season he made 14 appearances with 12 starts, posting an 8-1 record. Sullivan recorded a 4.88 ERA with 51 to 22 strikeout to walk ratio. Earlier in his career, he found success as a reliever.
Noah Sullivan was named 1st Team All-Big South as a utility player in 2024. As a freshman in 2022, he was named Big South Freshman of the Year, earning 2nd Team All-Conference honors, and was named a Freshman All-American.
Noah Sullivan is the biggest get yet for Mississippi State baseball out of the transfer portal
Mississippi State has put together a solid portal haul thus far, and Noah Sullivan is the most impressive addition. According to 64Analytics, Sullivan was the 16th best player in the transfer portal for 2024.
The Bulldogs already had one Top-100 transfer committed in Gehrig Frei (87th), and shortstop Sawyer Reeves (170th) gives them three players inside the Top-200.
That's a good start to the portal class, and Noah Sullivan specifically will be incredibly valuable to State given their needs both in the lineup and on the mound for 2025.
