EA College Football 25 predicts Mississippi State football versus Florida
Upsets happen in sports every year, and for fans of dynasty mode, upsets also happen in the EA Sports College Football 25 video game. However, I did find it interesting that EA predicted Mississippi State football to win in a one-off game versus the Gators, whose overall rating is much higher than State's. Here's how EA's CFB 25 expects the game to transpire...
EA College Football 25 expects a slugfest between Bulldogs and Gators
The first quarter ended without any touchdowns or field goals, but State did take a 10-0 lead into the half. Kyle Ferrie kicked a 26-yard field goal, and Kelly Akharaiyi caught a 10-yard touchdown pass with 59 seconds left in the first half.
In the second half, both teams once again were unable to muster any points. Florida was able to cut the lead to three points when Treyaun Webb ran it in for a one-yard touchdown run. State put the game on ice when Ferrie nailed a 31-yard field goal with 33 seconds left, and Mississippi State won 13-7.
Turnovers key to Mississippi State's simulated victory
Both teams had below average offensive output with Florida gaining 258 yards of total offense and Mississippi State gaining 280 yards. Florida got most of their yards through the air with 189 passing yards. Mississippi State was more balanced with 148 rushing yards and 132 passing yards. Both teams struggled on third down with Florida going 3/8 and Mississippi State going 4/10 on third down conversions. The difference in the game was that State won the turnover battle. The Bulldogs protected the football while also forcing one interception and a fumble in the win.
CFB 25 sees Bulldogs finding success on the ground
Blake Shapen's numbers were far below average of State fans want to see in real life as he went 10/12 for only 132 yards and one touchdown. State was able to find some success in the ground game with Keyvone Lee and Shapen accumulating most of the yards. Lee rushed the ball 10 times for 80 yards and Shapen ran for 32 yards on 7 attempts. Three Bulldogs had at least 30 receiving yards with Kevin Coleman gaining 37 yards, Akharaiyi adding 30 yards and Seydou Traore gaining 45 yards on two receptions. Lastly, the defensive stats were on par with what we have seen in real life. Brylan Lanier led the way with 9 total tackles with Javae Gilmore recording 7 tackles. Sulaiman Kpaka and Kedrick Bingley-Jones were the only players who recorded a tackle for loss.
