This game was GROSS!

Mississippi State football lost 45-28 at home to the Florida Gators on Saturday, and both Bulldog fans and the college football internet as a whole had plenty to say about the game.

Mississippi State vs Florida was the game to watch for true college football "sickos"

State vs Florida was the "sickos" game of the day in college football with two awful teams battling it out. And for some reason it was on display for the whole world to see.

Some expressed their shame for willingly subjecting themselves to this game.

Others decided to share this disgusting game with innocent bystanders.

Luckily the game itself wasn't just an all-around terrible watch, well at least for non-Mississippi State fans. It was definitely a terrible watch for Bulldogs.

FCS conference dunks all over Mississippi State and Florida

Conference realignment is all the rage in college football, and naturally, plenty of relegation jokes where made at the expense of the Bulldogs and Gators.

Florida-alum and Shutdown Fullcast host Spencer Hall suggested a move to the Sun Belt for these teams. Reddit CFB thought dropping all the way down to the FCS Southland conference was more appropriate.

Well it turns out the Southland Conference isn't interested, as they won the internet for the day by dunking all over State and Florida.

How far have we fallen that the FCS is talking smack? And they're right!

The Bulldogs made the Gators look like that?

Florida had been terrible this season. They looked hopeless through three weeks. Billy Napier is on the hottest seat in America, and with a loss today, he may have finally gotten the axe in Gainesville. Instead, his Gators rolled all over State.

Every Gator fan was ready to see QB Graham Mertz ride the bench the rest of the year. And what did he do against the MSU defense? Oh just go a nice 19-21 for 201 yards and four total TDs. He picked apart the Bulldogs like it was nothing (because it was nothing).

When you've got a former Thorpe Award-winner and all-time great Bulldog in Johnthan Banks commenting on how disheartening the defense is to watch, you know you're in a bad place.

State fans are dreading what's in store in the coming weeks

If you thought that was bad, it's probably going to get worse for Mississippi State.

Back to back games with Texas and Georgia (even with a bye week in between) is the last thing you want to see if you're a Mississippi State fan. If Toledo and Florida can do what they did to the Bulldogs, what type of pain are the Longhorns and UGA about to inflict upon State?

Bring on Bulldog basketball

At this point, there isn't any optimism remaining for the remainder of the football season. Most of that went away last week with the shellacking Toledo put on State, but whatever hope fans were holding onto after that has officially been thrown away following today's loss.

Instead, State fans have turned their attention to the only program on campus that's giving them any reason for excitement this year: Mississippi State men's basketball.

Chris Jans has generated plenty of buzz by reaching the tournament the last two years, and with Josh Hubbard leading a talented roster, we should be in for a fun season.

Maybe we can just forget football exists for the next few weeks before basketball returns. Or maybe a "supersim" is possible.

I'd be on board with that.
