2024 SEC football predictions: conference champion, playoff teams, league standings

With the season set to begin, here's our predictions for the SEC in the 2024 college football season.

SEC football returns tonight! Week 1 of the 2024 college football season is here, and multiple SEC teams are in action on this Thursday. With the season set to begin, it's time to make our official predictions for college football's premier conference.

Who wins the league? Who makes the playoff? How will the standings shake out?

Here's our predictions for the 2024 SEC football season...

2024 SEC Championship Game prediction

Georgia Bulldogs over Texas Longhorns

Georgia and Texas will play at least twice during the 2024 college football season. Both the Bulldogs and Longhorns will finish the regular season with an 11-1 record, both going 7-1 in SEC play. Texas will take down Georgia when the Bulldogs visit Austin on October 19. But when the teams rematch in Atlanta, Georgia will get revenge to win their third SEC title under Kirby Smart.

Which SEC teams will make the 2024 College Football Playoff?

Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels

With Georgia winning the SEC title, they'll earn an automatic bid to the playoff and get a first round bye. As the SEC runner-up, Texas will be one of the top seeded teams outside of the Top 4. Both Alabama and Ole Miss will earn at-large bids to the playoff after successful, 10-win regular season campaigns.
