Mississippi State women's basketball hasn't seen too much action early on with regards to the transfer portal, at least when it comes to players leaving the roster. The Bulldogs' two early entrants, freshman guards Shakirah Edwards and Anaisha Carriere, played the fewest minutes of anyone of the team this season.
But now a third Bulldog has entered the transfer portal, and unlike the first two entrants, this is a player who held a key role on the roster for multiple seasons.
Mississippi State Bulldogs' Debreasha Powe enters the transfer portal
On Thursday, On3 Sports' Talia Goodman reported that Mississippi State junior guard/forward Debreasha Powe has entered the transfer portal. A three-year starter for Sam Purcell's Bulldogs, Powe averaged 8.4 points per game and shot 39.8% from three this season.

The Meridian, MS native signed with Mississippi State as a 4-star prospect in the class of 2022. Powe immediately became a starter under then-new head coach Sam Purcell, averaging 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds to earn SEC All-Freshman honors. As a sophomore, Powe would show off her sharp-shooting abilities, making 40% of her three-point shots and averaging 8.9 points per game. This season, she remained the Bulldogs' top perimeter scorer and put together 11 double-digit scoring performances, highlighted by 19 points and five made threes against Texas A&M.
This is obviously a significant loss for Mississippi State. Though not the most versatile scorer, Powe's ability to be a knockdown three-point shooter provided a valuable role to the Bulldog offense. And simply put, being a three-year starter in the SEC holds plenty of weight. She entered this season as one of the leading faces of the team alongside Jerkaila Jordan, something she would have maintained as a senior.
With her transfer, Mississippi State is losing three of their top four scorers from last season. The Bulldogs currently still have several experienced players returning, but in terms of bucket-getters, they've got question marks. Purcell has a great freshman class coming in, but State is going to have to fight hard for proven scorers out of the transfer portal to reload for next season.
