Conference play is now in full swing for both men's and women's basketball at Mississippi State, and Bulldog football alums will take the field this weekend for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. Here's the latest Bulldogs' news...

Mississippi State women's basketball drops Thursday night matchup at Tennessee

After two-straight wins, MSU WBK went to Knoxville hoping for another big upset against the #15 Lady Vols. The Bulldogs were competitive for most of the matchup, but Tennessee pulled away to win 86-73. Three-point shooting and forcing turnovers are the hallmarks of this Lady Vols' squad, and that was on full display Thursday night, as they made 12 threes and put up a remarkable 30 points off turnovers. With Tennessee shooting well and MSU turning it over, the Bulldogs couldn't keep pace. They're now 15-4 (2-3) on the year, and will host Ole Miss on Sunday at the Hump.

Bulldog men's basketball hosts Ole Miss in critical SEC showdown

MSU MBK has now dropped consecutive games following their midweek blowout loss to Auburn. And while the Bulldogs are still in overall great shape for the season, their recent losses have made Saturday's home tilt with rival Ole Miss even more critical than normal. Losing at home to their rival for a third-straight loss would be a huge blow to State's momentum, both on the court and in terms of fan excitement. They need a win to get back on track. But it won't be easy. The #21 Rebels are 15-2, undefeated in the SEC, and are coming off a road win over #4 Alabama.

Trio of former Bulldogs will take the field for Divisional Round of NFL Playoffs

The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs is this weekend, and three MSU alums will see action. After a first-round bye, DT Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs will begin their postseason quest for a third-straight championship. They'll host the Houston Texas Saturday afternoon. Jones will see his former college teammate in fellow D-lineman Denico Autry, who recorded a sack and blocked extra point for the Texans in their Wild Card win last weekend. Sunday afternoon, CB Darius Slay and the Philadelphia Eagles will play host to the Los Angeles Rams. Slay had a huge interception last week to help them get a win over the Green Bay Packers.
