There's plenty going on in the world of Mississippi State athletics. Bulldog basketball has another important matchup, MSU announced a new play-by-play announcer for baseball, football made a coaching hire, and dates were announced for some major spring events.

Mississippi State basketball faces Missouri in Top 20 clash

Mississippi State men's basketball has another pivotal game on deck. The #14 Bulldogs host the #20 Missouri Tigers in Starkville on Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 PM CT. The game will air on the SEC Network. Both teams enter the game well-positioned to earn single-digit seeds in the NCAA Tournament, and both are looking to improve upon good starts to the new year. We'll see how MSU responds coming off a tough loss Wednesday night to Alabama.

Neil Price named next "Voice of the Diamond Dawgs"

Back in December, a Mississippi State legend announced his retirement. After 46 years, Jim Ellis is stepping away from the broadcast booth, ending a remarkable run as the "Voice of the Diamond Dawgs." Set to fill his shoes as MSU baseball's play-by-play radio announcer is Neil Price. Price has called Bulldog football and men's basketball games for radio since 2017 and was named the 2024 Mississippi Sportscaster of the Year.

Mississippi State football hires Mike MacIntyre as defensive analyst

Jeff Lebby has added another piece to his 2025 football staff. Longtime FBS head coach and defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre will join the Bulldogs as a defensive analyst. MacIntyre spent 12 seasons as an FBS head coach with stints at San Jose State, Colorado, and FIU and had recent runs as the defensive coordinator for Ole Miss and Memphis. MacIntyre, like fellow former head coach turned analyst Paul Rhoads, will be a veteran voice in the room as State looks to turn around its defense.

Mississippi State sets dates for 2025 Spring Game and Super Bulldog Weekend

Mississippi State is changing up its schedule for some of the biggest events of the spring. For 2025, football's spring game will take place separately from Super Bulldog Weekend. Football will play its spring game on Saturday, April 19 while Super Bulldog Weekend will be held May 1-4, centered around baseball's series with Kentucky. Both weekends will feature multiple sports taking place on campus as well as events happening in Starkville.
