It's time for the Big Game in the Big Easy! Super Bowl LIX kicks off tonight in New Orleans to put a close on the 2024-2025 NFL season and bring an end to football season as a whole. For the second time in three years, we have the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Philadelphia Eagles with a championship on the line.
This year's Super Bowl has some added excitement for Mississippi State Bulldogs fans. Each squad features a former Bulldog on the defensive side of the ball. For the Chiefs, defensive lineman Chris Jones has a chance to cement his career as one of the greatest ever at his position. And for the Eagles, cornerback Darius Slay is looking to finally add a ring to his impressive resume.
No matter who wins, a Mississippi State football alum is getting a ring. Here's how Bulldog fans can watch...
Game time and TV broadcast for Super Bowl LIX
Super Bowl LIX will air on FOX with kickoff set for approximately 6:30 PM ET/5:30 PM CT. For those without a TV or streaming provider that gives them access to FOX, FuboTV offers a free trial and will have tonight's Big Game.
Kansas City Chiefs DL Chris Jones with a chance to cement his career as one of the greatest ever
If Chris Jones retired today, he'd be an NFL Hall of Famer. He's a six-time Pro Bowler, a six-time All-Pro, holds the NFL record for consecutive games with a sack, and has won three Super Bowls. He's already elite, but a win tonight would put him in the conversation as one of the greatest DL to ever play. A fourth Super Bowl ring would put him with only members of the Steeler's vaunted "Steel Curtain" defense as the lone defensive linemen to win at least four rings.
Philadelphia Eagles CB Darius Slay looking to add Super Bowl champion to impressive resume
As a six-time Pro Bowler, a one-time 1st Team All-Pro, and one-time NFL interceptions leader, Darius Slay has had an outstanding career as a cornerback. But the one thing the former Bulldog doesn't have is a Super Bowl ring. He came close two years ago when his Eagles lost a heartbreaker to this Chiefs team in Super Bowl LVII. If he can help Philly get revenge tonight, he'll have a case as an all-time great for the Eagles.
