Mississippi State basketball is putting the final touches on its roster ahead of Chris Jans' fourth season in Starkville. The Bulldogs had a long stretch without much news in terms of additions to the roster, but that's changed over the last few days.

Earlier this week, State picked up the commitment of an international talent with athletic Slovenian forward Sergej Macura. Now the Bulldogs have dipped back into the transfer portal to land another quality forward, this one coming from Big Sky Country.

Mississippi State lands Montana State transfer forward Brandon Walker

Chris Jans added more valuable depth and production to his front court with the commitment of Montana State transfer forward Brandon Walker. The 6-7, 250 lb rising senior earned All-Big Sky Honorable Mention honors last season. He led the Bobcats with 14.7 points and 4.9 rebounds to go along with 1.6 assists as a junior.

Walker scored double-figures in all but four games last season, going for 20+ on three occasions. He posted a career-high 31 on 14-20 shooting against UC Riverside last December. Against Denver, he had his first double-double by grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds. In his career, he's managed four double-digit scoring games against power conference competition, highlighted by a 26-point outing at Cal as a sophomore.

In his sophomore campaign with Montana State, Walker averaged 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds. A native of Oak Cliff, TX, Walker began his career at UT Arlington, averaging 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds as a freshman. While a powerful finisher who does most of his damage at the rim, he has some ability as a shooter as well. Last season Walker attempted 44 three-point attempts and connected on 38.6% of them. If there's one major concern with his game, it's at the free throw line. For his career, Walker had made just 55.3% of his free throw attempts.

With the addition of Brandon Walker to the transfer class, Mississippi State's roster for the the 2025-2026 season is finalized. All 15 scholarship spots are officially accounted for, and it's an impressive group. Chris Jans landed another strong transfer class and is bringing in his best signing class yet to surround sharp-shooter Josh Hubbard. The talent is there to be a tournament team once again.
