Outside of Texas, which SEC teams are truly good?

Week 7 was another fantastic week of college football, and the SEC was once again in the spotlight with rivalries Oklahoma-Texas, Florida-Tennessee, and LSU-Ole Miss all taking place. And after the action, we're left asking if anyone outside of Texas is actually good, to which I say I don't know!

And that confusion makes sorting out the power rankings in this conference all the more difficult. But I'll still give it a go.

SEC Power Rankings after Week 7

We only had one truly notable result in the SEC this week, but that was enough to shuffle things around a bit. Here's the latest power rankings...

1. Texas Longhorns

We've known this for much of the year now, but yeah, Texas is the clear best team in the SEC. Oklahoma's got major issues but dismantling them was yet another sign of the Longhorns' prowess. Saturday vs Georgia will be electric.

2. Georgia Bulldogs

Not to knock my own team, but Georgia, you gave up 31 to Mississippi State at home? Something's off with this Bulldogs team, but it's impossible to put anyone but Texas ahead of them. We're going to learn a lot about them this weekend.

3. LSU Tigers (up from 4)

Should LSU have beaten Ole Miss? Probably not, but they did. The Tigers haven't lost since Week 1 and now have a strong win on the resume. They're suddenly right in the SEC title race.

4. Texas A&M Aggies (down from 3)

The Aggies were off this week, but after another week of action around the league, they still seem to be firmly in the mix.

5. Tennessee Volunteers

The Vols avoided what would have been a second-straight disaster by surviving in overtime against the Gators. This team hasn't looked great lately, but neither has much of the league. Will the offense get fixed for the Third Saturday in October?

6. Alabama Crimson Tide

Kalen DeBoer almost put himself on totally undeserved but fiery year one hotseat, but his Tide survived a ridiculous game with South Carolina to avoid a second-straight killer loss. Saturday in Knoxville is going to be more stressful than usual for everyone involved.

7. Missouri Tigers (up from 8)

Mizzou played at UMass (because that is a thing that happened) and won by a lot. Good job, Mizzou.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks (up from 9)

The Hogs were on a bye. They'll look to spoil LSU's momentum on Saturday in Fayetteville.

9. Vanderbilt Commodores (up from 10)

Vandy, I apologize for doubting your ability to stay focused after your program's best ever win and not fall flat on your face in Lexington. The 'Dores are good.

10. Ole Miss Rebels (down from 7)

Oh man. A dream season has turned into a nightmare fast in Oxford. Ole Miss isn't a bad football team. They should've beaten LSU. But with two losses already, they're in real danger of wasting this season.

11. Oklahoma Sooners

Can't say much for the Sooners. They're badly injured offensively, and just don't have the horses to compete with the league's best.

12. South Carolina Gamecocks (up from 13)

South Carolina now has their second "I can't believe we just wasted that chance" loss of the year and now sit at 3-3, which is exactly how all South Carolina football seasons go.

13. Kentucky Wildcats (down from 12)

You know I really thought Kentucky would spoil things for Vanderbilt, but no, the Wildcats still aren't particularly good. And now Mark Stoops is asking fans for the type of NIL support that VANDERBILT has. Things are going well in Lexington!

14. Florida Gators

Oh, Billy. You had a chance to get a big one against Tennessee, but you just couldn't get it done. Florida isn't totally awful, but the vibes here remain awful.

15. Mississippi State Bulldogs (up from 16)

You know what? I'm going to be nice to my team and move them up even after their fifth-straight loss because right now, State is playing better. And I would say they are presently playing better than #16 in my power rankings.

16. Auburn Tigers (down from 15)

Auburn was on a bye, but I'm moving them down because despite being one game better than State, they've looked like the worse team over the last couple of weeks.
