After a recent ranking update, Brodie McWhorter is rated at 87.41 overall according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He's ranked as the 34th best QB nationally in the Class of 2026 and the No. 61 player in the state of Georgia. McWhorter holds several power conference offers, including one from SEC rival Auburn. Previously committed to West Virginia, McWhorter reopened his recruitment in December after the Mountaineers hired Rich Rodriguez as their next head coach.
Brodie McWhorter has been on Mississippi State's radar for quite some time now, long before Jeff Lebby was hired. He took an unofficial visit to Starkville in January of 2023, picking up an offer from then-HC Zach Arnett's staff that summer. But even through the regime-change in Starkville, he's remained a priority recruit for the Bulldogs, and it's clear why Jeff Lebby thinks highly of him.
McWhorter flashes a lot of talent. He's a natural passer and displays accuracy down field. McWhorter operates the RPO game smoothly, and is a plus athlete. He's quick enough to handle option keepers, and is excellent at throwing on the run. That athleticism combined with the ability to throw off platform leads to come outstanding improvisational work. McWhorter suffered an injury early in his junior season, but through 4.5 games, he completed 72% of his passes for 984 yards, ran for 156 yards, and scored 14 total touchdowns.
McWhorter is a strong addition to State's 2026 class, as he could easily end up as a blue-chip prospect when it's all said and done. Jeff Lebby already has two incredibly talented young QBs on the roster between sophomore Luke Kromenhoek and true freshman Kamario Taylor, and now he's adding a good arm behind them.
