EA Sports College Football 25 Predicts Arkansas at Mississippi State
We continue on with our weekly series of EA Sports College Football 25 predicting the winner of each Mississippi State football game. The previous few weeks, EA has correctly predicted the winner of State's games. With that being said, who does EA think will win the matchup between the Razorbacks and Bulldogs?
Mississippi State suffers gut-wrenching loss to Arkansas in EA Sports College Football 25 simulation
The first quarter ended tied 0-0, but State took a 6-0 lead into the half thanks to a pair of field goals from Kyle Ferrie. The third quarter was the same as the first, and State took a 6-0 lead into the fourth. This is when the fireworks happened. Mississippi State increased their lead by 9 as Kyle Ferrie made his third field goal of the day. Arkansas answered with a touchdown of their own as Isaiah Sategna hauled in a four-yard pass from Taylen Green. Arkansas took the lead with 1:55 left with a 28-yard field goal by Todd Lehmann. State responded when Antonio Harmon caught a 44-yard pass from Michael Van Buren. With all that being said, Mississippi State lost in the most Mississippi State way when they allowed Arkansas to score on the final play of the game when Andrew Armstrong caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Taylen Green. The final score, 17-16, Arkansas.
Modest numbers from Bulldog offense
Michael Van Buren was 10/14 for 132 yards and one touchdown. I do expect him to more than double that number on Saturday. Davon Booth ran the ball extremely well, as he gained 82 yards on 11 carries. Van Buren gained 10 yards rushing on 10 carries, and Johnnie Daniels gained 22 yards on 10 carries.
Kevin Coleman and Kelly Akharaiyi combined for five catches for only 48 yards, which is one reason State's offense struggled in the simulation. Harmon's only catch was the 45-yard touchdown reception.
State's defensive performance was on-brand despite few points allowed
Keeping with the theme of what we have seen in real life, not one player recorded a single sack. The defense also failed to force any turnovers. Brice Pollock, Stone Blanton and Hunter Washington led the team with four tackles.
Lastly, there were four players who recorded at least one tackle for loss. Deonte Anderson, Brylan Lanier, and Branden Jennings each had one tackle for loss. Sulaiman Kpaka was the only player who had more than one, and he had two tackles for a loss.
