On Friday, Chris Jans and Mississippi State basketball landed one final transfer portal commitment to fill out their 2025-2026 roster. The Bulldogs picked up the commitment of former Montana State forward Brandon Walker, a rising senior that averaged 14.7 points and 4.9 rebounds last season in Bozeman to lead the Bobcats.

Mississippi State fans were thrilled with the addition to the roster. The obvious reason for their excitement is that Walker is a good player. He was a an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention last season and should play a valuable role for the Bulldogs.

But people both in and out of the Bulldog fanbase were excited about Brandon Walker's commitment to Starkville for another reason

Mississippi State Bulldogs now have two prominent Brandon Walker's

Even before Brandon Walker made his commitment to the Bulldogs, his name has been nationally associated with Mississippi State for quite some time now, but it's not because of him. It's because there's not a better known Mississippi State fan amongst sports media than Barstool Sports' Brandon Walker.

The West Point, MS native grew up a Bulldog and spent years griding his way through the sports media ranks, covering MSU at various points in his career. In 2019, a fortuitous livestream resulted in Brandon getting an opportunity at Barstool, and since that time he's become one of top talents at the company, cohosting shows Mostly Sports, The Yak, and Unnecessary Roughness along with having a regular role in content across the company.

Brandon has also become a national representative for the Mississippi State fanbase, proudly repping his school at every opportunity. Given Barstool's popularity, there's a large percentage of sports fans online who think of Brandon Walker whenever MSU is in the news. So naturally, the commitment of the basketball player Brandon Walker reached a larger audience.

Of course Brandon Walker himself (of Barstool) had to get in on the fun.

We have to imagine there will be some sort of fun collaboration here. Barstool's Brandon is already close with the Mississippi State athletic department. In fact, he's a big reason Bulldog basketball played in the Barstool Invitational in Chris Jans' first and second seasons. It only makes sense to get both of MSU's Brandon Walkers together for must-see content.
