Following a report that Jeff Lebby is the preferred target for the Mississippi State football program, college football media members are sharing their thoughts on the possible hire.
It’s starting to look like Zac Selmon is getting closer to making a hire at Mississippi State. According to a report by Ross Dellenger, MSU’s AD, previously an employee of Oklahoma’s athletics department, might have found the next head coach for the Mississippi State football program.
Per Dellenger, Mississippi State has apparently targeted Jeff Lebby, currently the offensive coordinator of the Oklahoma Sooners, to be the preferred candidate for MSU’s head coaching opening.
And that’s generating a lot of thoughts online.
Oklahoma fans? Well, generally speaking, they love that. College football fans in general? A lot of them are pretty unimpressed with the Bulldogs right now.
And here’s how college football media members are looking at the hire:

And when considering that other (successful and proven) options were available to be hired in theory, this choice isn’t going to look great for MSU in the eyes of a lot of folks, including college football media members.
The hire doesn’t seem to be official yet, but who knows what that process looks like. A report like this coming out seems to be pretty big news. And it’s something that folks (like college football media members) are going to discuss in depth for a while.
