Meet MSU’s interim head coach, Greg Knox

While he is a familiar face for Mississippi State football fans, it’s totally fine if you’re not already aware of who Greg Knox is.

Knox brings over three decades of experience to the table. He has specialized in helping develop running backs and special teams units and his lengthy and impressive career has taken him to a number of different institutions, including the following SEC stops: Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, and the University of Florida.

Knox returned to Mississippi State after helping out at Buffalo. Prior to Buffalo, Knox worked with Dan Mullen at Florida. And of course, prior to Florida, Knox was in Starkville with Mullen from 2009 to 2017.

During his last stint with MSU, Knox was previously the interim head coach after Mullen left for Florida. That was a short time as interim head coach, but he did help guide the Bulldogs to a bowl victory over Louisville and Lamar Jackson.

When he came back to Starkville, Knox was heralded as someone who could provide then-head coach Zach Arnett with some SEC experience and support. Knox is someone Mississippi State football fans are fond of and he’s someone who brings energy and familiarity to town.

And he’s a really good choice to help lead MSU as this season winds down.
