With Zach Arnett’s hot seat heating up, the Mississippi State football program should steer clear of some coaches who have received fan attention.

As the Mississippi State football team continues to struggle, Mississippi State football fans might find themselves ready for a fresh start. Given that the Bulldogs won nine games a season ago and returned a significant amount of their offense, it was expected that MSU would be able to win this season.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case and Mississippi State is getting crushed by the Texas A&M Aggies. With a loss to A&M, an already slim shot at a bowl game almost certainly, totally disappears from MSU.

And the folks in Starkville are restless right now. Mississippi State fans were sold the notion that this brand of “blue collar” football would bring success. That moving away from the Air Raid would help MSU in the long run.

Unfortunately, things haven’t panned out that way.

A 13-year bowl streak is almost certainly doomed and Mississippi State has appeared to be absolutely disjointed in just about every game this season.

The Bulldogs’ offense hasn’t taken off (but I’m not convinced Kevin Barbay deserves full blame for that situation) and State’s defense has been dreadful when it comes to giving up explosive plays (replacing key contributors from last season’s defense hasn’t been easy).

Now, as the season is coming to a close, and MSU fans start evaluating whether or not its worth it to invest in season tickets for next season, it’s time to start considering what to do at head coach.

Here are some good head coaching options:

And now let’s go over some less-than-ideal options (and better alternatives to consider).
